Summary of Research

Study of the mechanical properties of trabecular bone by means of compressive loading with the Zetos bone loading system: a bioreactor that keeps bone samples viable and loads them under controlled conditions. Applications of a better knowledge of bone remodeling include prevention of ostheoporosis, improvement of orthopedic implants, design of exercise protocols for spaceflight conditions or long term bed rest, evaluation of medications, among others.
