| Welcome
to University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for Rehabilitation Engineering
and Assistive Technology (UW-CREATe). It is my pleasure to introduce
you to the people, activity, and ideas that are part of CREATe.
UW-CREATe is now in the second year of existence.
It has been and continues to be a exceptional experience for the
faculty involved. Our common goal is to build and grow
an organization that is aimed at making a difference through engineering
research, design, and education. Ultimately, we hope to have a direct
impact on providing independence for people with disabilities through the use of engineering. This effort,
the people we work with, and those we are working for, make it easy
for us to come to work in the morning, something we all appreciate.
All of the people associated with CREATe are challenged
by disability, some more directly than others. It has been particularly
rewarding for us to work for and with people with disabilities,
because of how much we have learned and gained from the associations
we have made.
It has also been very exciting thing for us to
see the interest of the students in working with us on these projects.
As you will see, our students care deeply about the work that they
are doing, and they are strongly motivated because of the sense
of stewardship the work they are doing is promoting.
Please spend as little or as long as you would
like learning about us. If the website does not provide the information
you are looking for (or even it does, but you would like to communicate
with a real person), please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely Yours,
Jay K. Martin, Director
